...the most wonderful time of the year
I’m literally pulling my hair out? Who’s with me! The holidays are always nuts, and I don’t care who you are, we can ALL agree on that. Whether you’re hosting dinner, and you have no clue who likes what or what looks nice or, for the love of all things holy, IS THERE GOING TO BE ENOUGH LIQUOR? There never is. My issue is that I want to gift everything to everyone and I want to spend a million dollars doing it. But each year, I’ve gotta remind myself that’s not what Christmas is about.
If you’re the mommy who thinks her 5 month old baby needs a tablet, or a Barbie Jeep, or heck, a real Jeep (that mom is me🙋🏼) SLOW tf DOWN. I promise that when that tiny baby wakes up on Christmas (the same way she does everyday, because let’s face it she’s a baby), she’s not gonna care what’s under the tree. She won’t know who Santa is, or if you couldn’t afford to buy her 12 new toys and a new wardrobe. She’s going to care if you’re loving her and nurturing her, and letting her freely rip your hair out and slobber wherever she’d like. Gifts don’t matter. You’re her gift. I have to keep reminding myself of this daily, because I really do want to give my baby the world.
There’s so much more to the holidays than the gifts and the food and the hours of prep that go into it, believe it or not. Even though the food is the best and who doesn’t love a good excuse to eat everything that isn’t a part of their healthy eating plan🤷🏼♀️
It’s not just about the Christmas carols. It’s about who you’re listening to them with.
It’s not about the amount you spend on gifts for the whole family, it’s about coming together and being surrounded by each other while opening and sharing your gifts.
It’s not about outdoing everyone and hosting the best party, it’s about the friends that come together in honor of that party.
The time we give our friends and our family and our babies, is completely priceless. There is no price tag for love.
