Why I Stopped Using Febreeze: Product Ditch & Switch
Febreeze is great, right? Well let me start over. The idea of Febreeze is great, right? Your house smells of unmentionables and you want to get rid of it! So, why not use Febreeze air freshener to cover it up? Well because that’s literally all you’re doing. I’m not saying there is an air freshener out there that completely kills odors, because there isn’t. But seriously, products like Febreeze are made so you’ll keep buying them. You’re not buying them because they’re good for you or because you NEED them, because you don’t. You’re buying them because your house smells and you’d like it to not!
I’m SOOOO GUILTY of using Febreeze. Literally I can’t say that I haven’t used it, because I have. But, since becoming a mom, I’ve become a lot more aware of what products we use in our house, and what those products are made of!
Did you know that nearly every air freshener, or “odor eliminator” that you can purchase at a store is made up entirely of chemicals? YUM!
So I want you to think about it, what are you really after when you’re buying Febreeze, or any other air freshener? You’re after a yummy fragrance, right?! You want it to smell good, and you want to be the house that everyone says “wow it smells so good in here, what is that?”
Well, here’s the real shocker....you can literally access any fragrance that you could possibly want! And you can get it in it’s simplest form; fragrance oil. WHOA! I get a super yummy spray from my favorite shop Sage & Cedar, in the scent White Tea, which is probably their most popular scent! I love it so much that I even have a 16oz refill under the sink just waiting for me when I run out!
Whether you like a little pumpkin spice or you’re a citrus lover, you can also make your own Febreeze!
Guess how simple it is...
Distilled water
Essential/Fragrance oil
Spray bottle
That’s it! There’s no specific measurement or amount to making your own Febreeze. Simply fill your spray bottle with distilled water about 3/4 full and add your essential oil/fragrance oil until it’s a strong or as light smelling as you want it! VOILA!
Right now, I’m into the Christmas smells. Simply because it’s November, and well that basically means Santa is on his way 🤷🏼♀️
Happy spraying 💃🏼
